Human relations

Right now, I'm studying for my mid terms which will take place at 9.30am tomorrow. But I'm still gonna upload another post and it's about relationships between people.

In University, life is not as smooth sailing as non-undergraduates thought. Nope, university life is tumultuous depending on how you view it. To me, making friends is an issue and doing projects (etc) are tough.

I remembered how I had a tough time, trying to mingle with my JC friends for they came from famous schools such as ACS, MGS and Crescent Girls. Not to forget, some were from Nan Hua High School. And me? I'm just from a neighborhood school. Initially I had a hard time to mingle with them but after some time, it ended up well. They weren't snobby nor were they proud of where they came from. They included me in every game and in every meet up. I really enjoyed myself then.

Now, in University, I face people from all walks of life and even from different countries. It ain't easy. It ain't easy to get to be closer to some people. They'll tend to come to you when they need you and once they've found another friend, they'll brush you off aside. Not only so, in work when you have a group of people coming together to do a project, you'll bound to have a few who slacked off and disappear from the world. The next thing you know, those people appear and act as if they've been doing all the work. This is not just in school, it's almost in every working companies. I've gotten complaints from friends talking about how their group mates aren't listening to their advice or how their group mates never seem to help with the project work.

To me, it's just an obstacle we all have to face. Yeah, maybe we aren't the slack ones but what else can we do about the slackers? They are the ones who aren't pulling their shoes and get back to work. In the long run, they're the ones who will suffer for which bosses would be willing to hire them? Whenever I face such problems, I'll try to discuss with the rest of the group and we'll try to divide the workload to ensure efficiency and a balance between work and play. Nobody shall ever take on the full load and do everything by him/herself. It's not fair for this 'workaholics'.

Conflicts are bound to take place. Everyone has different perspectives of everything. They may think that certain methods are wrong and not workable but to others, it's the best option they have. All of us are growing into adulthood and throughout our 20-odd years, we learnt many different principles; that is why there's so many conflicting views on various things. Personalities clash.

If you ever do meet such slackers and they never bother to understand your situation nor make amendments to their actions, then it's time to change plans and don't let such people affect your feelings. It's just not worth it.

K Pop

Good morning! I woke up late today, Le sigh... But I just self-declared holiday for myself! Hahahah!
Lessons in University is just like that, if you want to, you can skip lessons and sleep in. Of course, I'll have to revise and prepare for the midterms and exams which are coming soon!

This morning, I listened to NU'EST- Hello and even though it wasn't the first time hearing, I only get addicted to it now. It has a nice tempo and they have a good voice. Yeah, my comments are really vague, but I'm not a professional musician to give a proper comment.

I remember that a few years ago, J Pop was all the rage and then it transit to Mandopop (Mandarin Chinese songs). Ayumi Hamasaki and BoA were just one of the few who contributed to J Pop's industry. At that point of time, I had no idea that BoA was a Korean who ventured in Japan and released several albums there.

Suddenly, Kpop took over and take on the lead in 2008-2009 and you'll see Singaporeans singing to Wonder Girls- Nobody, Super Junior- Sorry Sorry, SNSD- Gee and Big Bang- Lies. In 2009, when 'Boys Over Flowers' was airing in Singapore's local channel, I took a holiday and flew to Korea with my family. When I returned, Kpop was all the rage and I had a hard time managing myself, thinking to myself am I in Singapore or in Korea still. My friends all gushed over Lee Minho and Kim Hyungjoong in Boys Over Flowers. I on the other hand, started to fan girl over Big Bang.

I tried to determine the differences between Jpop and Kpop and explain why there is a rise in Kpop these past few years. Well, these are just my perspectives and I wouldn't say it's true- it's argumentative and subjective.

Kpop idols aren't your typical idols who are pampered by their managers and companies. They have trained for ages since young and had sacrificed most of their time for the intensive training held by the companies. Okay, this is not a good enough reason for their success. To me, the most important factor is looks. Almost all the Kpop idols are good-looking or pretty. Just take a look at the 'visuals' from each group; they are the most good looking among the group members and usually the 'visuals' have the most fans. Eg: L from Infinite, Lee Minhyuk from BTOB and Yoona from SNSD. Their individual fanbase is wide and this help boost the group. (Not that the other members are bad)

Other than the looks factor, style and ever changing is something that adds on to their appeal. Take a look at Big Bang ,2NE1 and SHINee. Big Bang's leader G Dragon is known as a fashionista and he has a unique style that fits himself. 2NE1 is famous for their edgy and fierce fashion (songs also!) and they have collaborated with Jeremy Scott for his label. Many Kpop idols have expressed their interest in working with Jeremy Scott but 2NE1 was the girl group that caught his eye. Ever changing- you will never find one of those successful idols with the same hairstyle or fashion for years (okay let's not talk about Taeyang). Look at G Dragon- his hair changes fast! SHINee's Key- his hair also changes every now and then. Kpop idols aren't afraid of tremendous changes to their hairstyle; just like how Sandara shaved off a side of her hair. It's cause of such drastic changes that make fans Ooooh and Ahhhhs over with. With so many Kpop idols promoting in the industry, style must be changed constantly to make the fans anticipate for the idol's new 'concept', even drastic concept like BAP's One Shot MV.

Of course, idols are after all singers and their songs/dance are one of the major factors for their success. SHINee took the Korean music industry by storm cause of their 'Replay' choreography. Big Bang shot to fame after the release of -Lies a song mixed with rap in between. Infinite's Scorpion dance(Before the Dawn MV) and BAP's push up dance (One Shot MV) also left a huge impression on the fans. Hyorin from Sistar and Ailee are also famous for their splendid vocals (Ailee- Heaven). Kpop idols not only can dance well, they can also sing well. These, including the looks, make Kpop idols a good package and companies exploit on this.

Jpop idols on the other hand focuses more on Kei Visuals. Where the guys will dress up like girls or have thick make up and grow long hair. Their style hardly changes, but I'm not criticizing them, they still have a large fan base and they have their principles. However, such Kei Visuals aren't enough and most fans crave for new changes. Jpop songs on the other hand are very anime like or cutesy and almost all the group have those kind of songs. Kpop on the other hand have fierce to cutesy and sexy style like 2NE1, SNSD and Secret. Versatility? Jpop needs to improve and be better.

Jpop is still on-going. I like Flow and Namie Amuro still. But they have to start getting on with the trend and make slight changes to their marketing tactics. I believe Jpop will take on the world again. Or maybe we could see a collaboration between Jap and Korean songs. Like Jaejoong's Mine- it really sounds like Jpop to me just that the lyrics and singer is Korean.
Life is given to us by our God. Its not to be taken for granted, neither is it to be toyed with. Life is for us to cherish, for us to know that God loves us.

What I'm trying to say is that, we are all human beings and we are likely to err. There shouldn't be a point in time where you feel insecure or upset about what mistakes you did.

Let me introduce more about myself. I've completely forgotten about the existence of this very blog and only get back recently. I've grown. I've grown mature and I wouldn't dare say I know life very well, but I do know life as a teenager in the twenty-first century. I'm not gonna say I'm like any typical Singaporean girl- that is too cliche. I'm a student now in a local university, doing well and being one of the busy bees in school with all the various activities. However, I've to confess that even with so many activities in my hands, I still feel insecure with being with most of my friends.

Yes, I am afterall a normal breathing person and I do feel the insecurities. Initially, I thought it was a problem of mine, but after having Heart-Heart Sessions with my closest friends in school, I realise, it's not just my problem. Most of the people are feeling the same way! Insecurities are in us, but I guess it's not just to show that we are vulnerable. To me, it is God's way of showing his love for us. When we feel insecure, we tend to rely. But, only recently do I realised I've been relying on the wrong people.

I've always been feeling insecure around people. I'll worry that I'll be a burden; I'll worry that they don't like me; I'll worry that I'm a loser to them. (These are just some of my worries. There's more to it.) Even so, what does this mean? It means I'm a person, with feelings. All around us are people and they have feelings as well.

Recently, I just backed off from a whatsapp chatgroup I created, cause I felt the group of us are falling apart. Friendships shouldn't be like this, but I guessed I was too sensitive. But I didn't really regret doing so, for none of them asked about me (except one). They just left the group as it is. Why? I'm not gonna delve into it.

After going through all these, I now know who I should rely on- God. God is everlasting. God is never-changing and He is always giving us. He gives us love and mercy. Yes, maybe you might feel that if God is that good, why are there so much chaos out there. But isn't going through the worst of times and reviving from the depths of hell a confirmation of God's existence? If there are no troubles and no problems in live, do we still know there is a God? Take for eg, the 'Rain God' in most tribes. Tribes would often do rituals for 'Rain God', because they were facing troubles of drought or troubles of water depletion. It's as simple as that. When we face trouble, rely on God. As for me, I'll rely on God as well. He is my Giver and my Eagle.

Insecurities, you don't have to be terrified of it. I don't now.
