Morals from The Heirs Pt II

So, episode 15 and 16 of 'The Heirs' got aired recently! Lo & behold! The war has begun. Among the brothers, their father and shockingly, the sacked but may-get-promoted Secretary! Not that I couldn't figure it all out. I was just waiting for the outburst from Kim Tan towards his Father and Brother, Kim Won. BUT. Up till now, I'm just praying for a change in Kim Won and his treatment to Kim Tan. Afterall, blood is thicker than water, how can Kim Won be so mean!

Kim Tan's engagement got called off, that's good. Kim Tan going against his father (same plot as Boys Over Flowers), that's good. And the best thing? Young Do saved Kim Tan and the two of them seemed to be getting better! I just can't wait for the two tall, handsome and model-like dudes to fist bump and parade down the school hall like they used to be. Then add on the probability for Kim Won and Kim Tan to have a real bro-hug. Not those hugs that are just for show to the interviewers.

From this drama, it seems like not all rich kids enjoy life like what we thought they would be. Yeah, they're rich, famous and good-looking but all good things come with a great price. Family. Hyo-Shin is the one I sympathized with the most. Okay, the family situation for both Kim Won and Kim Tan is equally bad, but Hyo-Shin's situation is the ultimate. I understand that the parents are very eager to have their child to become as great as they are. However, I think it's going to be out of hand. Hyo-Shin has his talents, but his parents fail to recognize that and kept on pushing him to enter Law school. Time and time again, they fail to realize that they have been putting too much pressure on him. I know that if you put in effort, your efforts will pay off (You reap what you sow). But to me, sometimes, you just have to admit people's shortcomings and accept them for who they are. Not everyone can be as brilliant as Einstein. Not everyone can be as talented as Michael Jackson. However, even if they lack talents in certain field, there's bound to be something they're interested in and will do well for sure. Like for Hyo-Shin, he has his talents and his parents should recognize them.

For Kim Tan and Kim Won's Dad. Real strict, real mean, real bad. I couldn't stand how he looked down upon Eun Sang from the very beginning. I didn't like how he sent P.Is to track his 2 sons affairs and even the secretary. I didn't like his way of handling the situation. Right from the start, it was his fault for having an affair. He broke the rule first. He broke the rule, got a mistress and made her live in the house, unable to attend any social events. Basically he didn't even treat his mistress well, let alone his lawfully-wedded wife. The father, broke the rule and made the events worst. All for the sake of money. Yeah money may be the root of all evil as the saying goes but it's the greed in humans that made and inanimate thing to be the root of all evil. For the sake of money, you have thieves and pirates. For the sake of money, there'll be ugly scenes when family fight for inheritance. For the sake of money, you see family torn apart. What's the point?

Greed. That's what all humans have. It can't be removed, it'll always be there. It's just whether you have the ability to control the greed within you.

The Heirs Korean Drama

Gather all the fangirls! This is THE mega drama comprising of actors and actresses from various different fields. The Heirs is one of those 'chaebol' dramas with all the rich and mighty. Although the cast and plot is fantastic, the ratings still lacked behind another Korean Drama 'Secret' (I think) on the wed-thursday drama time slot.

'The Heirs' is about the hardships of an 18 year old girl named Cha Eun Sang who had a mother who couldn't speak. They communicated via Korean Sign Language. (Well, I learn sign language as well and when I look at their Korean version of sign language, it seems very different to me. Most of the signings of the words are barely alike. I couldn't get the signings if not for the English subtitles.) Eun Sang and her mother lived a frugal life and to me, they're just having a hard time to make ends meet after the debt they incurred from Eun Sang's Father's medical bills. Eun Sang had an elder sister living in California, who left her mother and Eun Sang behind in Korea and cheated them all those years when she was living in US. I've no idea what the sister was thinking when she snatched all those money and left her younger sister behind in California. That was insensitive to the maximum.

Then here comes Prince Charming, who held lots of secrets and hardships since young, Kim Tan. He saved her from the streets of California, let her stay at his humongous mansion and brought her around California. He got jealous of Chan Young, a friend of Eun Sang, and even tried delaying Eun Sang from leaving his house. But all good things must come to an end... sadly.

A few days/weeks later, Tan took courage and flew back to Korea, back to the family who banished him to California for 3 years. Then, we met Tan's brother, Kim Won, who was the hardest person to read in the drama. On one hand, I doubt he would be that cold-hearted to ignore his younger brother; but on the other hand, from the way he forbade Tan to attend or be involved in any Jeguk Empire's business made me think otherwise. I mean even though Tan was your half brother, it wasn't his fault for being born as well. Up till episode 14, I'm still barely grasping what Kim Won was thinking and if he's really intending to kick Tan out from the Jeguk Empire's share. However, I have to admit both half brothers are equally handsome and kind of look like siblings.

Then in Jeguk High, there was the cute couple, Chan Young and Lee Bo Na. Initially I didn't really like Lee Bo Na cause she seemed to be bullying Eun Sang all the time. However, she's not the bully I thought she was. She's actually the cutest and most sensible rich kid in the school. I know it must have been a shock when her bestie, Kang Ye Sol, cheated her. However, sweet sweet Bo Na still accepted Ye Sol and forgave her, even inviting her to her 'Get-Back-Together-with-ChanYoung' party. So KUDOS to Lee Bo Na for that job well done. I really like her feisty character and think that Chan Young really should treat her well. Chan Young was from the 'Welfare category' but cause he's smart and held the position as the Class Representative, he was denied of the chance for bullying from anyone. He was not all that bad anyway. His father was the secretary of Jeguk Empire and they had a nice single family. So all those rich kids in Jeguk High were seriously too snobbish. Chan Young-Lee BoNa pairing is the best in the drama. Love the cute jealousy and Chan Young's smirk when Lee BoNa became jealous.

Then there's always the classic bully and in this case, it's actually Choi Young Do. Even though his actions were really disgusting at times, but from the way he would do anything to protect Cha Eun Sang, it's really thoughtful. Till now, I don't understand why both Choi Young Do and Kim Tan were still on bad terms. I have no idea why Young Do wanted to use 'illegitimate' as a way to agitate Tan. I mean what's the point? Tan didn't reveal Young Do's father's affairs to anyone anyway. If not for him using that to bully Tan, Tan wouldn't have retaliated by delaying to inform Young Do that his mother was leaving. Then all the rivalry wouldn't have begun. Young Do ah Young Do, you who has high IQ, what were you thinking?

Tan's fiancee, Rachel Yoo, well, she's a princess used to bullying others just to see them suffer. I think deep down, she's just as vulnerable as those she bullied. She needs a guy who knows her well, but first of all, she should let go of her ego and really reflect on what she had been doing to those around her and especially to herself. She's making everyone around her detest her even more. I doubt there's anyone she can turn to for help seeing her lack of friends and even an entourage. Snobbish? Checked. Ego? Checked. Empathy? None. That's the issue with Rachel, she couldn't ever put herself in other's shoes and understand their plight. She's only thinking about herself. Young Do was right. She violated the arranged marriage by falling in love with Kim Tan. Kim Tan did nothing wrong and he didn't lead her on in the first place. An arranged marriage is an arranged marriage. There's no mutual feelings between the two party in the first place. Rachel should know that but I guess she was just alone and needed someone to love her back and cause of the so-called 'marriage' she thought that Kim Tan could be the one who would love her. Plus the fact that Kim Tan is handsome as well.

Then there's the sad story Hyo Shin who, like any typical famous family, was forced to study law just so his family could uphold the honor they had been having. This can be seen in every family especially those whose parents are politicians, doctors, lawyers or attorney generals. They were brain washed to do well and succeed just so the family could continue to enjoy the honor. However, what's the point of pushing Hyo Shin up that path he had no interest in? He committed suicide before and yet, his mother refused to let him be and still pushes Hyo Shin to his limit. Poor Hyo Shin, I wonder what the ending will be for him...

The Heirs has a great cast and the stories are extremely typical, yet cause of Choi Young Do and Kim Wons' character, I got attached to the drama. I'm still waiting for the end and see what will turn out for the different characters. If Kim Tan and Eun Sang will be together, if Young Do and Rachel will amend their ways, if Hyo Shin will fulfill his dreams, if Kim Won is not that mean after all. And of course, if Kim Tan and Young Do will patch up and be buddy buddy again.

The Heirs kind of remind me of Ouran High Host Club mix Boys Over Flowers. Add on the fact that Lee Min Ho is the lead guy and is acting as a chaebol too. All the hardships the rich people face are similar compared to Ouran and Boys. Well, let's just wait and see.

Who Is Next: WIN

With the results out long ago, I wonder how long we have to wait before Team A, WINNER, will make their official debut with the release of an album. I know YG is always teasing fans and making us wait. With the recent opening by WINNER for Big Bang at their dome concert, I wonder if WINNER are back on their homeland and preparing for their album soon.

When Yang Hyun Suk first introduced this reality tv program where the trainees had to fight it out and battle, I thought that well, at least one will debut before the other but with no changes made to the members at all. Then after a few episodes, Yang Hyun Suk revealed that the losing team may be disbanded or have a member change. NO WAY came to my mind. Look at the trainees! They have worked so hard as a team and you wanna disband them? Please no. The fans like us won't allow you to do so.

WINNER and Team B have put in great effort into perfecting their vocals, choreography as well as song writing. To throw all these jobs to a bunch of trainees is YG's way. I remembered an interview with G Dragon long ago, where he said that he was trained to write lyrics from a yearly basis to monthly to weekly and then now, daily basis. Lyrics will flow through him almost instantly. But not everyone is as talented as G Dragon and I'm sure a bunch of newbies wouldn't be able to come up with their lyrics within a few weeks. The fact that they could come up with their song arrangement and lyrics, is already a huge step for them.

On the final episode, which I watched the video clip where swarms of fans turned up for the finale with banners and all, I feel that WINNER and Team B didn't have much to lose. I mean both groups have garnered legions of fans from all over the world and for trainees to have fans before they debut is already a damn good thing. I'm pretty sure those new groups that just made their debut are not as famous compared to these YG trainees.

But what makes them so popular?

I think YG has brilliant marketing skills. YG already knew both groups are equally awesome in their own traits (WINNER with vocals and Team B with dance choreography) and maybe he just couldn't decide on who to debut. If based on the choice of judges, Team B would've won. However, the winning team was based solely on the voting done by public and Team A snatched that.

In a sense, WINNER is already getting old and they should be the group to debut before Team B, but Team B can seriously show their moves and entertain the crowd with their acrobatics and stunts. Like I said, both groups are good in their own way. I took a long time to decide who I should really be rooting for and I finally made my decision on the finale. I rooted for Team A because they have really good vocals and there's a vibe within them that made them stood out form Team B. Initially right at the start, they made a mistake of not having a leader. Without the leader, there's no core. So YG was smart and he quickly appointed one- Song Min Ho. However due to his injury, YG quickly changed the leader position to Kang Seung Yoon. It was devastating to Song Min Ho but the group was able to take things in their stride, include Song Min Ho in their choreography even though he was injured. WINNER has this mixture of people with different character and they just blend in with each other perfectly. Team B on the other hand, is so used to one another, they look like siblings to me, with B.I as their eldest brother.

Well, I'm not saying Team B isn't as good as WINNER. But to me Team B still has room for improvement. I wouldn't want to see talents like B.I and Jin Hwan go to waste. B.I has a really good leadership potential, Jin Hwan reminds me of Taeyang, good vocals and humble, Bobby is just wacky and happy go lucky, Joon Hwae has vocals to die for, Yoon Hyeong and Dong Hyuk also have good vocals, but their talents are slightly obscured by the Big 3. The finale song 'Climax' by Team B, was a really touching song, depicting their biggest dream to win the title as WINNER. B.I's rap was daebak! And it was this song that made me realise Joon Hwae's vocals. Even though the song was good, I thought that it was somewhat messy.

Overall, I believe YG should retain Team B and debut WINNER soon. Both groups are really talented. Team B, we'll wait for you to make your debut soon. Hwaiting!

30 Seconds to Mars

"I've been dreaming of things yet to come. Living, learning, watching, burning. Eyes on the Sun."

I got to know 30 Seconds to Mars from the song 'The Kill', thereafter they released 'Up in the Air'. Initially, I had some doubts about the trio seeing how horrifying the MV for 'The Kill' was. However, the MV for 'The Kill' kept playing in my head and it intrigued me. Like 'why were there twins, why was there a mysterious lady' and all. Then I googled+wikied and it turns out Jared got his muse from a movie. And Bartholomew Cubbins is actually him.

Subsequently, I fell in love with 'Up in the Air' and 'Closer to the Edge'. I'm a fan of One Direction and One Republic and their genre is far different from 30 Seconds to Mars. But I'm still gonna talk about 30 Seconds to Mars instead of the other 2 band/group.

The recent release of 'City of Angels' was absolutely beautiful and touching. The initial release of the lyric video was awesome! Just a lyric video and it generated so much feelings in me. It's a really nice song and I kept it on repeat for the rest of the day (not week-that'll be too much for my brain to handle). After which they released the actual 11++mins long MV and woah! It's a brilliant MV! There's artistes and street artistes and normal LA citizens featured in it. The way they depicted LA sounds so surreal and beautiful. For a moment, I could really imagine 'a boulevard of hopes and dreams, streets made of desire'. It's really really nice. The view of LA looking ever so charming as the sun sets, and the Hollywood sign looking over the people of LA. The artistes they interviewed provoked my heart and make me think a lot. All the hardships every people face are undesirable and unavoidable. The prejudices the artistes face everyday is not easy to handle at all.

Then there's 'Do or Die' and many other MV which touched my heart loads. The MV featured all the echelons from all over the world, getting crazy and united for 'Music'. Like what they wrote in the MV, it's a cult and I don't like it (Pun). Well frankly speaking, I'm not in the stage to join the 'cult' but I still admire the love from all the echelons. And needless to say, being called an 'echelon' sounds cool. Imagine calling yourself an 'echelon'. Hmmm, sounds like some ancient European god or warrior. It's a cool name.

Jared Leto and 30 Seconds to Mars is really talented and their fan base is huge. All the echelons out there be proud of 30 Seconds to Mars! Imma be one too after being a VIP (Big Bang) for so long. #echelon be brave and continue to listen. Music is all you need.

F1 Big Bang Concert '13

Recently, I attended the F1 Grand Prix outdoor concert on the 20th of Sept 2013! Why did I go? For Big Bang of course! It was an outdoor concert which lasted for around 1.5 hours and worth only $68 (plus $2 booking fee).

Since both my friend and I had school to attend on Fri, we decided that whoever ends school early will go over to queue first. My friend had heard that a few VIPs had already queued overnight and some manage to take a photo with the dancers from Hi-tech (MY KWON TWINS!). Nevertheless, I finished my 6 hour lab within 4 hours and rushed down straight to City Hall and queued. In total, I waited for the start of the concert for 9 hours; from 2.30pm-11.15pm. Well, at least I didn't stay overnight.

Upon entering the gates, hordes of fangirls started running ahead and were warned by the security to stop running. Running madly, all for Big Bang. When I stepped onto the Padang stage, I was full of anticipation cause the stage was mega huge! I imagined Big Bang stepping onto the huge stage and WOAHHHH! Hahaha, sorry fangirl mode on.

Anyway, nearing the evening, the practice race started and listening to the vroom vroom of the engine is totally different from hearing them on tv. No wonder there are fanatics of F1 who are still willing to watch the race. The exhilaration and tension when seated and watching the F1 Grand Prix live. It was my first experience to be in the circuit and hear the engines live.

Then after waiting for another few hours, at around 9.30pm, the band came in and all the VIPs started to get up and ran closer to the stage. My friend and I were flabbergasted. Seriously it's only 9.30pm and we are already standing up? It was squeezy, sweaty, hot and tiring to be standing there for another 2 hours. Well, I didn't want to stand up but if I didn't, I believe I would have been squashed flat by the other VIPs.

At least, the spot I'd taken was near the extended stage and when Big Bang came out, they were really near. Thank goodness I could see them; 9 hours of waiting time was nothing after this close proximity of interaction.

During the concert, Big Bang members took time to hype up the mood and talk to us in English. Taeyang rapped out what he ate in Singapore, GD promoted his new album and the possibility of coming back to Singapore for another concert. TOP was cool throughout and Daesung tried to converse with us with English. Seungri forgot his lyrics for one of the old hits (I think).

Big Bang sang a lot of their hit songs like Lies, Fantastic Baby, Stupid Liar etc etc. And how can I forget the dancers! The female and male dancers! They were awesome (as usual) and full of fun! I can tell they're really enjoying the stage! The Kwon twins were remarkable and dashing too! Don and Deuk!

As the concert comes to an end, the VIPs started chanting for encore stage which the Big Bang members did! YEAH! They sang another 2 songs and that ended the whole concert (sadly).

Big Bang Alive Galaxy Tour Concert Movie

Getting the tickets were so much trouble. And it can only be booked through GV to get to watch Big Bang's Alive Galaxy Tour Concert movie. (I'd prefer Shaw) It was quite a panicky moment for my friend and I since we couldn't really schedule a date and a time and the venue. Ahhhh, just hectic when we were picking the venue. But it all ends well and we managed to book our tix for the movie! YEAH!

So we picked sat at Plaza Singapura GV theaters and what could I asked more from YG Entertainment? This movie was superb and exceeded what I had expected. I had expected just a little backstage appearances of Big Bang members and prob a few of their top songs like Lies, Monster, Blue etc. But OMG! IT WAS DAMN FASCINATING!

The whole feel in the theater was almost like that in the concert hall. Just that it wasn't live and we were all sitting down comfortably. Fan girls in the theaters just screamed like mad when the movie started and it's just a different feel! I screamed with them obviously. Who can resist the winks from G Dragon, Daesung's hilarious jokes and Tae Yang's muscular bod? No one.

The backstage was really nice. It showed how Big Bang members can be so derp when they are so cool on stage. Top and his helium balloons. Top and how he was so sad when he had to cut his hair for Alumni. GD with his fabulous fashion sense. Taeyang and Daesung's bod. Seungri doing the same act for 6 years straight making Taeyang wonder what he should do with their maknae. It was just hilarious!

What about the songs? Do I have to say more? Still Alive was awesome. Stage presence was Fantastic. Sorrowful songs were like Blues. Fashion, out of this world. Their fans? VIPs are VIPs. The stage setting to their theatrical faces to their dance moves and vocals. I really really love them.

Lemme just take a moment to reminisce to the ol' days where people were talking about Wonder Girls' Nobody and my friends and I were there talking about Big Bang's Lies. Then I flew to Korea for a holiday and got my first Big Bang album. It was a concert album and it was just $16 SGD. When I came back and 1 year later, found the same album in HMV, it was sold at $32. Double the price!

When the movie ended, I was like 'NOOOOOO~ It couldn't end just like that!' But it did and after the movie, all the songs were stuck in my head, kicking off Exo's Growl. Now in my head it's "I'm so stupid, I'm so stupid, I'm so stupid in love" So nice! Sigh. But it's alright. I'll be there to support BB at the F1 concert. Yeah!!!
And I hope to see the Kwon twins from Hi-Tech dance team. They're really awesome back ground dancers too! Kwon Twins! Deuk and Don!!!

Inequalities in life

Exams have ended for me and I'm now enjoying my holidays! School doesn't start till August, but it doesn't mean I can lepak all day long at home. My Mum would've nagged at me all day long to get a job.

Now with regards to my title, I feel like voicing out to those who have complained about not getting into this and this course in this and this University. These students are fresh graduates from JCs and are awaiting for the Acceptance letters from various Universities. To most, I hope they have gotten what they have dreamt, but to the minorities, those who didn't get the course they wanted, don't despair.

There are those who have scored straight A's for the 'A' Levels and have applied for Medicine or Law or even Dentistry courses in the Universities, but were sadly denied the chance of interview/admission. Angry parents wrote letters to newspapers and Facebook, expressing their huge dissatisfaction with the Universities. With such good grades, it's almost like you're on an expressway straight towards any course you want even if they are the hardest course to get in. SO WHY ARE THERE STILL PEOPLE NOT ACCEPTED INTO MEDICINE/DENTISTRY/LAW? Isn't it highly confusing? And here I am, so thankful that I managed to get into a University with my not so glamorous grades, there are people with straight A's flying overseas to continue their further studies! That I just couldn't fathom.

I remember that I heard this from a friend long ago that Medicine and Dentistry is a biased course in Singapore. It's so biased that even those who promoted Dentistry said it out-rightly that Dentistry accepts mostly __JC students. So if the students from other JCs wanna enter this course, they have to be really good. I mean, COME ON. You might as well put the Dentistry Course as 'ONLY FOR __JC students'. Isn't it bias max?

Similarly for Medicine, there's so many rumors out there saying that only those students with Doctor background, like say parents as Doctors, do they stand a chance to go for the interview and get accepted. I have friends who scored straight A's who went for the interview, but none were accepted. Okay, maybe they did something wrong in the interview and in the exams, but I mean seriously? Out of so many none got in!? You must be joking... Okay move on.

It's not just this kind of horrifying rumor, there are numerous out there! I'm not gonna say them out. Just makes me get even more frustrated with the inequality.

So what am I trying to say? All those good courses are sort of reserved for the better and the highly privileged. Well, by all means, you can disagree with me with regards to the above statement. But to me, it just feels like this. Same for the PW results what with neighborhood JC scoring higher percentage of A's than some JCs and some angry reviews etc (I'm not gonna dwell into that you can just google it up on your free time).

To all those aspiring to be Doctors/Lawyers/Dentist, I'm not trying to discourage you from entering the course, but I just wanna say this; when you've done brilliantly for your 'A' Levels and applied for those good courses, even if they do not accept you, don't be sad, they just do not know how to appreciate your work. Continue to pursue your dreams. Apply for scholarship and go overseas to study! Do well and show it to those Professors who rejected you that you can do as well as those they accepted! I do not believe that people should be rejected just so they fail to have parents as doctors or just so they are not from good JCs. Everybody should have an equal chance. Isn't this taught in Social Studies? Isn't this what is highly emphasized by the Ministry?

Equality, we students wants equality too.

EXAMS COMING and Personalities Clash

Exams are coming! I'm in a turmoil because all of my surrounding friends are studying like mad and I'm still here using my computer. Not that I'm complaining why they're studious. I'm a very last minute person when it comes to studying even though I'll always have this voice within telling me to start studying. I'll also have a feeling of unease, fearing that people around me will do better than me. But, hey, I've been using this method to study and I can still survive. (Yeah, baby!) Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking you to follow my style. Please don't. Hahahaha!

This brings on to my topic for the day. People learn from their environment as they grow and there are many different environments around us. It's not surprising to find clashes between people. Nobody will be happy with everyone. Nope, nobody. There's bound to be that someone who just doesn't click with you. I'm no exception. But we should try to learn the differences and look on the positive sides to the person whom you wish to break off all contact and relationship with.

Come on, not everything about that person is irritating, there must be something good within that person. Be it a good picker on everything or that Drama Queen, there's something you can look out for from them. Something good. In our mundane lives, these people are the ones that spice up our lives, don't you think? They may be picky, yeah, but if it's good points they've raised, then take it. Accept their pickiness, cause it's all for the benefit of the project you're in.

I just did a survey on the relationship between superiors and the little workers around. To me, I think respect must come mutually, sole respect for superiors ain't good. Also, there must be criticism, not pure agreement to whatever ideas the manager/superiors have said. I mean come on, I know it's bad to go against your superior, but isn't it better if you provide constructive feedback and criticism? Something that can benefit the company or the project you're doing? Who knows? Maybe your feedback got better profits for the company! You'll be the talk within the company!

Well, sometimes superiors and workers clash cause of their personalities differences. So it's best for those experiencing this kind of problem to look at the good points of others. I mean, there's no point for you to complain to other stuff and create more politics. I've always wondered if there's such company with good rapport, but sadly, I doubt so. There's too many politics within most companies.

I'm trying my best to deal with people with bad characteristics out there. Like you, I also wish to shut them up and never see them for the rest of my life, but how to? There'll be more people out there as we grow older who are tougher to handle. So just start 'training', to look on the bright side of people and put yourself into their shoes. Who knows? Maybe people are judging you too! So don't judge me from my posts. These are just my opinions. Take it or leave it:)

Finding a partner

Have you ever been troubled about finding a boyfriend or a girlfriend? Do you feel a pang of jealousy when you're surrounded by couples? Sad to say, I'm starting to feel troubled by it now, even though I'm still young. Why? I'm not sure... Maybe it's due to peer pressure...?

Well, you can guess it, I'm gonna touch on this topic which may be sensitive to certain people (like me). I'm sure that as we grow older, most of us will develop feelings for the opposite sex (or even same sex). Well I'm not gonna start on saying if I'll support gays and lesbians, I'm gonna say the feelings associated with being left on the shelve. Yes being left alone on the shelve.

We are humans and we tend to judge people base on their looks. It's one of our nature to do that, no point avoiding and saying that you don't judge a book by it's cover. I do that too. However, just as we judge others, others judge us and it's just an endless cycle with the human race. So, what I'm trying to say is, guys and girls, it's time to stop fanboying and fangirling about those Kpop idols or Vampire Diaries characters and start looking for a real decent partner. Also, it's time to stop judging people by their looks and instead, try to get to know them first. Some people are really fun and enjoyable to be with.

Also, if you have yet to find that certain someone, fret not. Don't go into panic mode and whined like what I did a few days ago. Just enjoy being single! Make new friends and go out! Also, I'm not promoting singleton (otherwise the government may put me to blame for the low marriage percentage in Singapore...) It's just that being single has it's perks and before you tie the knot and spend the rest of your lives with a partner, go all out and enjoy your youth and single life.

I've been single for quite some time and as I enter University, I see couples almost everywhere. University seems like the place for guys and girls to pair up and move on. It's true, at the age of 19-23, it's time to find a good partner and settle down in the long run. However, we cannot rush into it and quickly find a partner randomly. That is rude for the partner and basically, you're deceiving yourself.

My friends around me are starting to pair up unknowingly and just a few days ago, I felt lonely about it, so I whined to my other friend (who has partners since long ago). And they scolded me for not opening my eyes and accepting guys around. I must thank them for scolding me. Hahahaha. Now, I felt that I was just being lame and stupid to whine about such simple things. In the past, I'd told others that I'll be alright living with myself and having no partners. Now, I should have the same mentality and move on  with my life. I mean, being alone isn't all that bad actually. I could continue to watch Running Man and spend more time relaxing with other single friends.

Furthermore, why should I be worrying about such things? Hahaha! I'm being too sensitive. After all, Kpop idols are also single (mostly) and some have yet to get into a relationship! So, I'm actually better than they do already (ok, I'm being mean to be comparing Kpop idols with myself but still, I need to comfort myself). So in conclusion, being single doesn't mean it's the end of the world, relax and maybe 'open your eyes wider' like what my friends said. Who knows, maybe the person could be right next to you!

And I have already set my eyes on a certain someone~

Rejection

It's been a while since I've logged in! I've been too busy dealing with school work and balancing CCA activities. It was a tumultuous week last week, with me having a test on wed and lab on Tuesday and Japanese homework due on Tuesday. Phewww! I'm so glad those are over! Oh not to forget my CCA falling on sat.

Well, today I'm gonna touch on the word 'rejection'. Don't get me wrong, it's not about rejecting guys/girls in relationships. It's about rejecting people when they asked for help. And don't get me wrong as well. I didn't meant it to be a selfish person and not help anyone at all. It's just: do as much as you can.

Just yesterday, my friend showed me a website which describes the various horoscope and it has described my characteristics fully. I'm an easy-going person and if anyone needs help even for the minor things, I'll assist them. This is true. I didn't realize it until days ago, another friend of mine (whom I was helping) told me I've always been helping people and never rejects them when they need me. I just brushed her comments aside and said that my help was nothing. However, after reading the horoscope, I thought to myself 'maybe I've been doing a lot for others'.

Helping others is a good thing. It's basic morals. Basic courtesy even. However, there is a limit to helping people. If it's on the expense of your time or money, maybe you should try to reject. I've always been saying okay to anything, either eating in an expensive restaurant when I'm broke or helping friends carry heavy load or even having last minute calls to accompany people to go out. I'll just about say okay to anything. Is it in me? I'm not sure. But I do know one thing. Some of this 'okays' are on the expense of my precious time. It's time for me to reject certain calls of help and start walking my own life and helping myself.

Rejection is not all that bad. And even if people rejected your help, it doesn't really mean they're selfish. It probably meant that they have no time and are busy with their lives and activities. There's always a two side to everything.

I've been helping others and I believe I've come to a certain limit. It's time for me to say no and walk my life journey well.

Selfish people

I'm back today! It's my only free day on this super busy week! Today, I'm going to talk about what happened to me recently. I realised my life sounds very dramatic, but I believe everyone will have met selfish and selfless people in their lives.

Just recently, there seemed to be a misunderstanding in between my group members as well as certain members of the other group. Well, I shouldn't be talking bad about people and I shall refrain myself from doing so. However, I would like to take the chance to encourage those who are facing selfish or bitchy people out there either in the working field or in school.

People aren't flawless, this was what God made us to be. He knows we aren't perfect and so should we. At certain points of time in our lives, we'll face some selfish people who criticize and give negative comments and yet, fail to give constructive feedback. I mean, if you have any ideas to improve the tasks at hand, your comments are greatly welcomed. I'll accept them humbly and if your comments are good, I'll give you the credit you deserve. Many superiors do that as well. Unfortunately, some people will only criticize and refuse to do any work for you, just cause they feel that your ideas are ridiculous to them.

University may seem like the place for "mature" people to attend, where there is a certain level of responsibility within everyone. Well, it's time to wake up from such thought. University isn't that brilliant after all. Some people are still very immature and irresponsible. I'm not going to start pointing fingers, but I must say it's natural for having selfish people to be around. I just feel that such people make the selfless people stand out more. Well, if you ever do meet such people, please refrain from scolding them. It's just not worth the effort. Talk to them nicely and get them to understand where the goals for the project are set at. If they turn a deaf ear to you, it just means they didn't take this project seriously and you can really just don't give a damn to them. You have already done what you can; to ask them to be serious. In the long run, such selfish people will be the ones suffering.

So my advice to all those out there, even my friends who are reading this post, don't let selfish people make your blood boil. HAHAHA :D Just laugh it off and continue with life.

Fashion

I'm back after a tiring weekend! And it's great to be able to sit in my room and recover/recharge myself. The weekend was hardcore but I manage to grab 15 hours of sleep last night just to replenish the hours of sleep I've lost.

Today, I'm gonna touch on Fashion cause of the recent post I saw on G Dragon.

Does Fashion=Style=Model? Well, many people has different says on fashion but I tend to go to the more edgy and boyish side. Most of my dresses, shoes, clothes and even bags are blue and I'm sort of getting sick of it... Le sigh... So I started getting black, white, custard and even green skirts/shorts just to stop wearing an all blue outfit. But even with all my clothes and shoes, I still feel that I lack many stuff.

My friends are commenting on my shoe collections, saying I have far more than necessary. Is that so? I doubt so. I have more than 10 pairs of shoes but I still feel I should get a few more... I'm not a shopaholic, mind you, I'm just interested in getting shoes of different 'genre'. My wardrobe is also packed with clothes that I can't even shut the doors properly but I guess it's cause of all the old clothes my Mum refused to throw away and the 20 over school shirts I have over my 19 years of life.

Enough said, let's see what fashion is to me. Fashion is not about getting into the latest style or to be with the trend. It's about finding what looks good on you and how confident you are in your attire. G Dragon is known by many to be stylish, though sometimes the clothing ensemble he came out with doesn't seem to look good on him. Still, I must say he exudes the confidence and that is enough! I have always been appreciating his fashion and admire him to be One of a Kind. To be himself mostly. His style is far different from other Kpop idols and that is what made him stand out the most. His hair is also changing every now and then and although he seems to like them, I found some hideous. (Sorry to say that!)

The (above) recent photo of G Dragon was a total shock to me! It doesn't match with his age. His long black and white hair seems to make him look older. I didn't mind the short black and white hair her had previously, but this longer version was seriously a 'last warning'. G Dragon comes up with many wacky styles but this was not what I had in mind.

He is daring. He seriously loves to Wow the media with all the hair styles he has come up with. I remembered back in 2008, in 'Haru Haru' his hair style was new and adorable.
The head band on his head was quickly followed by other boy groups (I think G Dragon started the trend). The head band was not the only trend he started, many of G Dragon's style was also imitated by other idol groups. He always lead the fashion scene in Kpop and always has an additional factor to his style. I love how he matches up clothes that people often avoid.

He is quirky. He is a fashionista. He has his fashion statement. G Dragon has my admiration in his fashion statement and I hope many idols would feel the same way about him.

Human relations

Right now, I'm studying for my mid terms which will take place at 9.30am tomorrow. But I'm still gonna upload another post and it's about relationships between people.

In University, life is not as smooth sailing as non-undergraduates thought. Nope, university life is tumultuous depending on how you view it. To me, making friends is an issue and doing projects (etc) are tough.

I remembered how I had a tough time, trying to mingle with my JC friends for they came from famous schools such as ACS, MGS and Crescent Girls. Not to forget, some were from Nan Hua High School. And me? I'm just from a neighborhood school. Initially I had a hard time to mingle with them but after some time, it ended up well. They weren't snobby nor were they proud of where they came from. They included me in every game and in every meet up. I really enjoyed myself then.

Now, in University, I face people from all walks of life and even from different countries. It ain't easy. It ain't easy to get to be closer to some people. They'll tend to come to you when they need you and once they've found another friend, they'll brush you off aside. Not only so, in work when you have a group of people coming together to do a project, you'll bound to have a few who slacked off and disappear from the world. The next thing you know, those people appear and act as if they've been doing all the work. This is not just in school, it's almost in every working companies. I've gotten complaints from friends talking about how their group mates aren't listening to their advice or how their group mates never seem to help with the project work.

To me, it's just an obstacle we all have to face. Yeah, maybe we aren't the slack ones but what else can we do about the slackers? They are the ones who aren't pulling their shoes and get back to work. In the long run, they're the ones who will suffer for which bosses would be willing to hire them? Whenever I face such problems, I'll try to discuss with the rest of the group and we'll try to divide the workload to ensure efficiency and a balance between work and play. Nobody shall ever take on the full load and do everything by him/herself. It's not fair for this 'workaholics'.

Conflicts are bound to take place. Everyone has different perspectives of everything. They may think that certain methods are wrong and not workable but to others, it's the best option they have. All of us are growing into adulthood and throughout our 20-odd years, we learnt many different principles; that is why there's so many conflicting views on various things. Personalities clash.

If you ever do meet such slackers and they never bother to understand your situation nor make amendments to their actions, then it's time to change plans and don't let such people affect your feelings. It's just not worth it.

K Pop

Good morning! I woke up late today, Le sigh... But I just self-declared holiday for myself! Hahahah!
Lessons in University is just like that, if you want to, you can skip lessons and sleep in. Of course, I'll have to revise and prepare for the midterms and exams which are coming soon!

This morning, I listened to NU'EST- Hello and even though it wasn't the first time hearing, I only get addicted to it now. It has a nice tempo and they have a good voice. Yeah, my comments are really vague, but I'm not a professional musician to give a proper comment.

I remember that a few years ago, J Pop was all the rage and then it transit to Mandopop (Mandarin Chinese songs). Ayumi Hamasaki and BoA were just one of the few who contributed to J Pop's industry. At that point of time, I had no idea that BoA was a Korean who ventured in Japan and released several albums there.

Suddenly, Kpop took over and take on the lead in 2008-2009 and you'll see Singaporeans singing to Wonder Girls- Nobody, Super Junior- Sorry Sorry, SNSD- Gee and Big Bang- Lies. In 2009, when 'Boys Over Flowers' was airing in Singapore's local channel, I took a holiday and flew to Korea with my family. When I returned, Kpop was all the rage and I had a hard time managing myself, thinking to myself am I in Singapore or in Korea still. My friends all gushed over Lee Minho and Kim Hyungjoong in Boys Over Flowers. I on the other hand, started to fan girl over Big Bang.

I tried to determine the differences between Jpop and Kpop and explain why there is a rise in Kpop these past few years. Well, these are just my perspectives and I wouldn't say it's true- it's argumentative and subjective.

Kpop idols aren't your typical idols who are pampered by their managers and companies. They have trained for ages since young and had sacrificed most of their time for the intensive training held by the companies. Okay, this is not a good enough reason for their success. To me, the most important factor is looks. Almost all the Kpop idols are good-looking or pretty. Just take a look at the 'visuals' from each group; they are the most good looking among the group members and usually the 'visuals' have the most fans. Eg: L from Infinite, Lee Minhyuk from BTOB and Yoona from SNSD. Their individual fanbase is wide and this help boost the group. (Not that the other members are bad)

Other than the looks factor, style and ever changing is something that adds on to their appeal. Take a look at Big Bang ,2NE1 and SHINee. Big Bang's leader G Dragon is known as a fashionista and he has a unique style that fits himself. 2NE1 is famous for their edgy and fierce fashion (songs also!) and they have collaborated with Jeremy Scott for his label. Many Kpop idols have expressed their interest in working with Jeremy Scott but 2NE1 was the girl group that caught his eye. Ever changing- you will never find one of those successful idols with the same hairstyle or fashion for years (okay let's not talk about Taeyang). Look at G Dragon- his hair changes fast! SHINee's Key- his hair also changes every now and then. Kpop idols aren't afraid of tremendous changes to their hairstyle; just like how Sandara shaved off a side of her hair. It's cause of such drastic changes that make fans Ooooh and Ahhhhs over with. With so many Kpop idols promoting in the industry, style must be changed constantly to make the fans anticipate for the idol's new 'concept', even drastic concept like BAP's One Shot MV.

Of course, idols are after all singers and their songs/dance are one of the major factors for their success. SHINee took the Korean music industry by storm cause of their 'Replay' choreography. Big Bang shot to fame after the release of -Lies a song mixed with rap in between. Infinite's Scorpion dance(Before the Dawn MV) and BAP's push up dance (One Shot MV) also left a huge impression on the fans. Hyorin from Sistar and Ailee are also famous for their splendid vocals (Ailee- Heaven). Kpop idols not only can dance well, they can also sing well. These, including the looks, make Kpop idols a good package and companies exploit on this.

Jpop idols on the other hand focuses more on Kei Visuals. Where the guys will dress up like girls or have thick make up and grow long hair. Their style hardly changes, but I'm not criticizing them, they still have a large fan base and they have their principles. However, such Kei Visuals aren't enough and most fans crave for new changes. Jpop songs on the other hand are very anime like or cutesy and almost all the group have those kind of songs. Kpop on the other hand have fierce to cutesy and sexy style like 2NE1, SNSD and Secret. Versatility? Jpop needs to improve and be better.

Jpop is still on-going. I like Flow and Namie Amuro still. But they have to start getting on with the trend and make slight changes to their marketing tactics. I believe Jpop will take on the world again. Or maybe we could see a collaboration between Jap and Korean songs. Like Jaejoong's Mine- it really sounds like Jpop to me just that the lyrics and singer is Korean.
Life is given to us by our God. Its not to be taken for granted, neither is it to be toyed with. Life is for us to cherish, for us to know that God loves us.

What I'm trying to say is that, we are all human beings and we are likely to err. There shouldn't be a point in time where you feel insecure or upset about what mistakes you did.

Let me introduce more about myself. I've completely forgotten about the existence of this very blog and only get back recently. I've grown. I've grown mature and I wouldn't dare say I know life very well, but I do know life as a teenager in the twenty-first century. I'm not gonna say I'm like any typical Singaporean girl- that is too cliche. I'm a student now in a local university, doing well and being one of the busy bees in school with all the various activities. However, I've to confess that even with so many activities in my hands, I still feel insecure with being with most of my friends.

Yes, I am afterall a normal breathing person and I do feel the insecurities. Initially, I thought it was a problem of mine, but after having Heart-Heart Sessions with my closest friends in school, I realise, it's not just my problem. Most of the people are feeling the same way! Insecurities are in us, but I guess it's not just to show that we are vulnerable. To me, it is God's way of showing his love for us. When we feel insecure, we tend to rely. But, only recently do I realised I've been relying on the wrong people.

I've always been feeling insecure around people. I'll worry that I'll be a burden; I'll worry that they don't like me; I'll worry that I'm a loser to them. (These are just some of my worries. There's more to it.) Even so, what does this mean? It means I'm a person, with feelings. All around us are people and they have feelings as well.

Recently, I just backed off from a whatsapp chatgroup I created, cause I felt the group of us are falling apart. Friendships shouldn't be like this, but I guessed I was too sensitive. But I didn't really regret doing so, for none of them asked about me (except one). They just left the group as it is. Why? I'm not gonna delve into it.

After going through all these, I now know who I should rely on- God. God is everlasting. God is never-changing and He is always giving us. He gives us love and mercy. Yes, maybe you might feel that if God is that good, why are there so much chaos out there. But isn't going through the worst of times and reviving from the depths of hell a confirmation of God's existence? If there are no troubles and no problems in live, do we still know there is a God? Take for eg, the 'Rain God' in most tribes. Tribes would often do rituals for 'Rain God', because they were facing troubles of drought or troubles of water depletion. It's as simple as that. When we face trouble, rely on God. As for me, I'll rely on God as well. He is my Giver and my Eagle.

Insecurities, you don't have to be terrified of it. I don't now.
